SCHOOL TRIP TO DUBLIN WITH 4ºESO

Our students from 4ºESO have been abroad!! They have been to Dublin, Ireland, from the 29th March to the 6th April 2022, accompanied by four teachers: Ángeles Carrasco, English teacher and organiser of this activity, Lorena Rodríguez, English Teacher, Elena Gil, English Teacher and Bilingual coordinator, and Mª Dolores Anoria, Geography and History Teacher from the Bilingual section.

The group, 45 wonderful students from our school, went to Malaga to take a plane to Dublin on the night of the 29th (at 4:40 in the morning!). All of them, including the teachers, have stayed with Irish families in their houses, thus sharing their dinners and breakfast and having the chance to speak in English and learn about Irish culture. In spite of some problems derived from a rise in the contagion by COVID in Dublin after the feast of St Patrick, students say that their stay with the families has been excellent and some even wanted to stay for a bit longer.

The first three days, students had to attend communicative English lessons in an academy in the city centre, so they have had to learn how to move around Dublin by themselves using the Leap Cards the organization gave us, which include access to all buses and trains in Dublin.

Apart from that, during that week we have done several learning activities, including: a guided tour of Dublin, a visit to Howth (a fishing village), a theatrical visit to Dalkey Castle, a visit to the Epic Museum ( a new and famous museun about immigration in Ireland), a visit to Trinity College to see the Book of Kells and the magnificent Old Library, a session of Irish music, with dancing lessons, and a visit to St Patrick's Cathedral. Besides, we have had a full-day excursion to Glendalough and Kilkenny, with a surprise stop in the middle: a visit to a sheepdog farm where the farmer showed us the way a sheepdog is trained and we could see a newborn lamb (only two hours old!)

Here you have a video that summarizes the whole trip. Thanks to all students for their fantastic behaviour and to their families and the IES Neruda for their support!
